Its a fine line to walk with the employer/union relationship. Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease; sometimes it gets replaced. Unions are always squawking and squeaking, employers are always squeezing.

First, let me say I worked for Remington for 30 years. Both before and after the sale by DuPont in 1993 to the first group of investment bankers, Calyton, Dublier, and Rice. That was a 7 year downward spiral.

They eventually sold it to Cerebrus Finacial, a bigger investment banker type company. More downward spiral.

The "old" Remington was sold in 2019 under bankruptcy due to poor management of the second investment owners.

The Georgia plant was operational quite some time ago. The current owners of the Ilion facility could be questioned if they actually understand how to manage a highly technical business.

This only pertains to the firearm facility. VISTA Outdoors, who already owned Federal, Speer, etc purchased the ammo plant during the bankruptcy sale. There is currently an offer on the table form a Chech Republic company of 1.9 billion dollars to purchase VISTA.

That purchase has also had a second, non-solicited offer from CZ Inc to purchase for 1.74 billion. Sale is still pending decision.

Either way, the bankers really ran it into the ground. Founded in 1816, Remington was the longest running, continuous manufacturing facility in the United States. Not that the political environment in NY is good. Illinois is almost as bad.

not a surprise

NY and the gun business is toxic

they already went out of business

so moving the last of manufacturing out because they are no longer under the old contracts makes sense

technically Remington is already out of NY and has been since 2019

Rem-Arms had restarted limited production lines

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I am pretty sure this is a “real” Remington

Why any company that makes firearms or ammunition or reloading components would remain in a blue state is insanity. The liberals won’t be happy till they regulate them out of business, loss of jobs is not a concern to them. Plenty of friendly red states to move to and probably receive tax incentives or other help to relocate and be glad to have them.

Well that’s what happened. It’s pretty sad since Remington has been in Ilion, NY since 1816. And as far as the union being one of the reasons for leaving, it’s all part of NY being business unfriendly.

I'm betting its 50-50 between leaving the liberals and union behind so they can turn a profit.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

They're all turning blue, some just slower than others.
