Anyone ever have fluid on their lungs and have the fluid taken off? How do they do it? I have shortness of breath and the Dr. told me it is most likely coming from the fluid on my lungs. He wanted to know if I wanted the fluid taken off, I am just wondering what the procedure is for that.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

My partner Gerri had fluid in her lung, they just used a needle to draw it out and it was a large amount of water! She said it was not very painful at all and felt much better after it was removed.

Thoracentesis. My dad has had it done several times to remove fluid from around his lung, minor procedure and made a big difference with his breathing.

my great grandpa did fairly regular between age 84 and 88 when he passed he had a his double bypass about 65 and lived to 88 passed in 1999.

often a sign or condition of congestive heart failure , in his case his heart wasn't moving enough blood and fluid collected in his lungs they typically started with a water pill and that made it better at least in the first couple years then went to the needle procedure.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

My senior year of high school I was in the hospital with pneumonia. Couple weeks later I was short of breath went back to the doctor and had another stay in the hospital because of fluid on my lungs. They stuck a needle in from my back between my ribs and sucked it out. I can’t remember now how much fluid they pulled off my lungs

My wife had fluid from her lungs extracted via a large volume syringe. She had a radical amount of fluid withdrawn and her condition improved in minutes after the excess was removed. They will lie you on your back as stated and insert through the ribs to the affected lung lobes.

When I had it done for pneumonia it was instant relief … this was after 4 days in the hospital, wish they would have drawn the fluid off after the first day ….

I had a large amount of fluid around my lungs due to cancer....having it removed let me breathe normal again.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I can't remember if this was part of that treatment or for another lung fix issue, but when I was a hospital pharm tech, we used to mix up a couple of doses of doxycycline in 60 ml syringes (2 fluid ounces). Two ounces doesn't sound like much unless you're staring at it in a syringe. The doxy had a nice light green color to it. Put 2 syringes in a bag for the dose. It looked fairly nasty knowing it was going to be injected somewhere around the lungs.

I also used to draw up in a 35 ml syringe some juice for injection for priapism. Seeing that thing coming towards your manhood would probably be enough for most guys to drop the salute so obviously the issue was real. I never saw it actually given but I'm sure it was no fun...

I just got back from the hospital where they drained the fluid off my lungs. The procedure went well, very little discomfort and it only took 10 or 15 minutes to drain it once it started. It went way better than I expected.

Good to hear Jim, hope you kick it!!

I'm of no help when it comes to doctoring, I can't remember the last time I've been to one. Not saying that's good for me, just haven't had a good reason too
