Just wonder if it is hard for people to get on land to trap in the area where you live. Around here they beg for trappers I had a text this morning if I would be interested in trapping his land. Here it would nothing to have 10 square miles to trap or more in a single call. I did turn him down I don't have time. We used to get trappers from the south up here and they would spend a month trapping yotes and would make a haul.

Here across the Southern US.....good trappers get paid by landowners to trap....for predators and beavers.

Word of mouth travels fast. I could get enough to probably quit my day job, lol. I keep just enough to pay for mine and the wife’s play time. Some properties are enjoyable to trap, others not so much. I keep it fun and in good relations with landowners or managers.

Kind of the same here. Somebody finds out you are a trapper and they think you’ll ride to the end of the earth to do it.

Was like that in the past here but big changes in the last few years with ranchers/farmers selling, retiring and dying that punched a big hole in my line.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I got plenty, 2 Big ranchs.
And they just keep buying more.

And Beaver work never seems to let up.
At least I can pick and chose them.
Just say NO to the "high maintenance one's" laugh

Let me sugar coat this

moved recently and this area is different.

seems most landowners will let you trap, but ONLY AFTER rifle deer season...the absolute toughest freeze/thaw conditions.

they are very protective of their deer hunting spots.

Over 25000 acres in Illinois around the house not counting an occasional beaver call more than I can ever handle but no one else traps. Deer hunting is included on this also .

I never had the time to ask the guy across the street to trap his land. He has 60 acres but I did steer a man to his land he was selling and the man bought it!! so the lest he could do is say yes when I ask him.

Not too hard to find people that need beavers gone here. All our local ponds are about dried up, and some are completely dry, so the public land beaver trapping is pretty rough this year, but I've had a few private land places offered this season so far, with a couple more I need to go ask about.

In cattle country I get as much ground as I want. Anywhere else is hit and miss so it has to be on my way between 2 big ranches or I couldn't care if I trap a place or not.

Shortly after we moved to this place found out the neighbor is a professional trapper and has all the places around here sewed up. There is a lot of National forest and such as well but due to health (end stage kidney failure ) I can't pack it all on my back and go on foot like I used to, so for me it's been tough to find any private not spoken for or leased

Not a problem whatsoever here.
More area available than any man could trap.

Here in PA permission is granted most of the time.
A common theme among farmers is they want you to AT LEAST trap the coons, beavers, & muskrats.
It's easier to get permission from private property lands if you ask to go after coyotes. (this is better for their deer hunting & also lets you get ANY animals in your trapline)
Always ask for permission at a strategic time, never at meal times or while they're working.

TILL THAT DAY.....

Getting tougher here
Old farms are selling out and getting sold off into smaller lots that are bought up by city folk wanting a country house and they won't let you trap
Also citiots leasing farmers land to hunt and not letting you on it till after hunting season which runs into January. Which gives you the worst conditions to trap. Lake effect snows that drop feet of snow in hours. Bad ice a couple inches thick and then covered with heavy insulating snow.

It's easy to get permission here after deer season, if you like trapping in December this is the place.

Same here, Deer is king. I trap a few properties just to keep them in my bag whether fur prices are up or down.
