basically a muzzle loading cartridge gun stuff the projectile down the muzzle , insert the cartridge aka fire stick from the breech
so you can easily unload the firestick if you don't fire the gun that day hunting
I haven't tried it if your a season extender I could see where it would be a convenient tool. one of the turn offs to muzzle loading for many people is all the work to figure out a a hunting load , many just want to toss some cash at the problem and go shoot a deer. this is a way to do that and not have a possible bag sof accessories.

Bought one this year, Shooting Traditions 250 Grain Carnivore smackdown bullets, with the 120 firestick. zeroed at 100, I am good out to 150 with the amount of shots I have through it. Most of my shooting is well under a 100 in the bush. Have had it for about three weeks now. Easy to load and zero worry's about moisture. Only concern is if they stop making the firesticks for them.

I think I took a nap and woke up and the muzzle loading market went nuts while I was sleeping
the cheapest fire stick gun I could find was 509 on sale and most more like 6-700
then the sticks 10 for 28.99 and you have no idea if they will stop making them in 5-10 years
I can find a decent used Thomson Hawken's for 300-350 around here
they seem to want 500 for every inline out there right now new online
I would be looking for a used gun in good shape and some holy back as it stores forever and about 1000 caps or primers I could probably hunt the rest of my life with black powder for 500-600 dollars in gun and supplies if your willing to go more traditional.
caps are a bit of a sticking point but there are 1000 caps for 135 dollars available , I was getting them 5 dollars a hundred and 209 primers for around 35 a K
the muzzle loading world appears to have caught up with the crazy in the rest of the world.

Green County you want crazy price a used .32 or .35 cal muzzleloader. yes I know but those have been that way for a while and for good reason there are so few available , these are plastic and mild steel guns that were selling for 129.99 a few years ago that is where I am getting sticker shock.

I want one in a flintlock but with an optic. Ya I know but squirrel are small fast targets and my eyes are not waht they once were. With only one shot I need to make it count. But being able to make a lb of powder and lead last as long as that would and thee ability to make your own powder and not need to buy caps/primers has a big appeal to me. But at the price of them I would need to go with a .45 cal so it could double for deer legally. back to the op. Nice buck I'm glad you found it before the coyotes. It's always a sickening feeling to have to back out on a deer but better than jumping it. Good job. I have never killed one with a recurve. I have never been able to shoot them well enough.

Thanks for the info guys. Got a Cva crossfire bought and pick it up thurs. Killed a doe Friday with my lr-x then had a hangfire cost me a doe sat. Had a ton of ignition problems with the Lr-x. That is what got me thinking about the firestick.

I have a 45 caplock it is easy on powder and lead I cast for it a slow twist an old Jungar kit Kentucky I bought it used for 125 with ball powder and some accessories. some maybe 10 years ago , he didn't finish it the best but it sure shoots well. a good target or small game load for stuff at about 25 yards is 25-30gr of FFFg black and you can get a hundred hunting loads to the pound as for a sight not an optic that keeps it more traditional while still making it much more shoot-able have them on the 45 Kentucky and a short light 50 "mountain rifle" https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1828132532

the muzzle loading world appears to have caught up with the crazy in the rest of the world. Around here you can buy the sticks at Walmart on clearance already for $16 for the 10 pack. It's not even muzzleloader season for another week yet.

then dropping some coin on a lifetime supply of firesticks would be a good idea I doubt they will get much cheaper.
