Loved pugil stick. A good excuse to beat the crap out of each other. I held my own but by that week of basic I was pretty (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) off and ready to whip everyone in sight, lol.

I do recall running the course jumping down into a ditch and sticking one of those rubber Ivans so hard I needed help pulling the bayonet out.

We really need to have a civilian version of pugil stick. Great way to blow off steam.

Make it a fundraiser at trapping conventions. $20 for 2 participants to battle for 2 minutes.

Story time.

When I was in Basic in 1996 (25 years old) We had it and that particular day I was at the hospital for an injury that was unrelated. All of a sudden in the door comes my Drill with a helper and a big bloody rag on his neck. Seems he moved to far into the path of the blade when he was yelling at someone. He learned a lesson that day. It was also pugil stick day and they told the Drills that they were not allowed to participate because the B and C Battery Drills had been having a contest to see how many Article 15's they could give each other's people. The chain was concerned they were going to have dead Drills or severely injured Drills.

I never got the benefit of training , but I have a nice Buck knife bayonet. Fits my Mossberg 590 or my AR-15.

I am too old for knife or fist fighting.
