Had our local CO over the other night to seal my fisher and bobcats pelts. She asked if I wanted to hear a fisher story, I said yes.
A CO near Queensbury, NY got a call from some hikers that they had been attacked and bitten by a fisher. He met the hikers and proceeded down the trail where the attack occurred. For some reason instead of taking his shotgun he carried a .22. Sure enough as he approached the area where the hikers had been attacked, the fisher attacked the CO, and he shot it and it fell over. As he approached the downed fisher it came to and rushed the CO. Being surprised that the fisher was still alive and coming at him, he stepped backwards tripped and fell hitting the back of his head rendering him unconscious. The fisher then jumped on the CO’s face biting him in the lip. The onlooking hikers photographed the fisher on his head and then chased it off. The fisher did expire, they had it tested and was positive for rabies. As far fetched as this story sounds, my CO showed me the photo of the fisher sitting on the officers face.

I'm glad the hikers cared more about taking a picture than getting the fisher off the wardens face. From what I've read and from a person I know the rabies shots are not fun.

Lol. Off topic but we had a Fisher test positive for avian bird flu up here. Apparently it was acting all weird, now our gov is testing fishers,weasels,coons,skunks etc for it.

I thought the same. Seems to me the priority would have been to get the fisher off the guy.

That had to be seen.
