Deer hunting slowed down during the open rifle season here and did a little trapping/hunting on some property I usually do not get to after the freeze.

Got into a colony with white belly patches. 3 out of this colony caught, all had white on bellies. Decided not to get them all so I can get more next year. Only found white patches on them like this in one other colony before about 6 miles away.

Never heard of that before, very neat. Do you sell them to a special market?

I have had some hooped, some tanned for wall hangers. This one in the picture has the most prominent white patch so far. Many have very small patches

WIKA, When you hoop those did you skin those by splitting them down the back instead of the belly so the patch shows in the middle?

I just make my cut off center a few inches from the normal opening cut, that allows me to make sure the patch stays all together but its still on the edge of the oval. Still makes the normal oval when I put on my boards. I guess I never thought about skinning them with the opening cut on the back.
