I like to have a weasel as a pet.

My cousin Denny used to have a pet weasel and one day, Denny's mischievous weasel, Whiskers, decided to embark on an aquatic adventure in an unlikely location—the toilet. As he unsuspectingly left the bathroom door ajar, Whiskers seized the opportunity and plunged headfirst into the porcelain pool.

Imagine his surprise when he returned to find a soaking wet weasel, looking both satisfied and a tad confused. It seems Whiskers had discovered a new way to beat the heat, turning the toilet into his private swimming pool.

Never underestimate the ingenuity of a weasel in search of a refreshing dip!

I was walking around my property today and saw a weasel! I didn't know I had them I won't trap it let it have fun eating the mice and shews.

Weasels are a cousin to the wolverine and ounce for ounce have been known to back down grizzlys. Cute yes but one needs to give them a lot of respect when dealing with them. My grandfather used to tell us kids about how our great-uncle was killed by a weasel. Seems he was coming home late one night, crossed the tracks and didn't hear the weasel......

I like to trap weasels!
One night a few years ago while I has my boxes out, a weather event of snow was forecasted. Nothing crazy for my region but the snows always seemed to have the weasels moving, much like extreme cold. Typically I don't set culverts, as that is where others participating in the activity like to set up. It lessens conflict and theft a bit. I like to catch them before that, even if it means a few more steps.
Back to that night of snow, I had one set that was in the ditch, typically a 3-4" snow is fine and boxes are functional, this particular box was buried in the snow from the plow. As I pulled up I thought "man I'm not finding this one until Spring" I always set with a prominent land marker as reference. I had walked up to the 3rd telephone pole from the road I place it on every year. While looking into the ditch in the area it was, as I do this daily, I noticed a weasel sized hole going down about the spot the box was.
I scooped through the crust of the top layer and followed the tunnel scoop by scoop. The tunnel went through about 20" of snow and directly to the 2" hole in my box!
In the box was a nice shortail weasel. I couldn't believe it. They must have a pretty good sense of smell too!

They were on the move last few days.

My wife saw one going south along the west wall of the house this after noon looking out a window. I went to the south room in the house and looked out and saw him. So they were moving today too.

I need a few to kill the rats I have left, when you want them around you can’t find them.

Neat animal. I wonder how far south their range used to be before we were here. Did they extend into Kansas?

Weasel is listed as a furbearer here, but I have no idea if it would be "ermine" or not.

The white winter pelage of the weasel is called ermine.

Pawnee we have a a few here. Not many but they do show up around here.
