Greetings fellow weasel trappers,

In my ongoing efforts to address a weasel issue on my property, I've tried using liver, chicken, and fish as bait in my weasel boxes in the past. While these options have shown some success, I'm eager to explore new and unique bait options that might prove even more effective.

Have any of you experimented with unconventional or unique weasel baits in your weasel boxes? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any recommendations you may have.

Thanks a bunch for your time and expertise!

I don't have weasels to trap real close here but my buddy has used the back half of a mink and caught them.

In mink boxes I've had success in the snow with feathers or rabbit fur scatter in front of the box and the carcass inside.

How bout an old mouse nest?

Just some ideas

Around here we have grey diggers or California ground squirrels. I caught a weasel with that in a marten box. It was just starting to turn white.

Dave D'Aigles' anise paste bait works good. I think Caven's carries it.

Just checked and they do. Sixteen dollars for a four ounce jar.

We pull our heads off our cottontail rabbits after we shoot them and I have saved the heads for bait in the past.

In the off season I store my weasel boxes in an area with lots if rodents. Occasionally I will throw in some corn or bird seed to attract them. By fall they naturally smell of rodent urine and really don't need much for bait as it already has a natural attractant.

Use the weasel carcass after you skin it out, It's a good change up bait and it works well.

I use beaver and muskrat. In a pinch maybe a mouse or two.

Nothing different to offer, just what i always use when i do set a few weasel boxes.
An ordinary field mouse & a dab of weasel gland lure every time.
Location is the key. Set places where tracks have been seen in the past

TILL THAT DAY.....
