Earned a private pilot license in Alaska in 1985. VFR, single engine with no float rating. Beautiful scenery in Alaska. Very expensive to maintain flight status so I let my license lapse. Could take off in a small plane today but landing would be difficult!
I flew for many years as a biologist in bush Alaska. No roads in the village I lived in. Had a SuperCub for work duties. Also had my own 'Cub. Trapped for many years with that 'Cub. PA-18s. Piper Super Cubs. Tundra tires, floats, and skis.

Its really expensive now compared to when I got mine. I have a commercial, single engine, multi engine ( which I never use) instrument and back in the mid 80s cost me around $15,000
I have a friend that was an F16 pilot and now flies a jet for UPS, he was also an instructor and taught me to fly and I bought a 2-seater light sport built in the Czech Republic. I retired from the phone company and worked for 9 years for him as airport manager before retiring completely. I sold my airplane when I left the airport. I stuck a GoPro on my wing strut while flying around one morning. Here is the video if you want to go for a ride with me.

Current student pilot. Roughly half way through, but having a hard time sneaking away from work to complete it. Like Gulo, no roads in the village and I could use a Super Cub for work and be better at my job.
Hoping to take time off in April to finish up. I have 20hrs on the books in PA18s and C150s. No full time CFI here and winter weather makes training locally prohibitive. Was quoted $15-17k for part 141 schools in AZ/TX/FL.
Think I can get it done in the Midwest for closer to 5-6k.
