What metal roof snow guards do you recommend. It seems like there are many to choose from. I have a 6/12 pitch on a 24x32 building. Im getting gutters installed soon.

I put snow guards above all my doors. Big mistake. They do indeed hold back the snow, but it hangs there and melts slow, dripping water for many hours during each thaw. I finally took 'em all down.

Jack Do you have gutters? I discovered snow on a metal roof with NO snow guards will rip your gutters off.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Jack Do you have gutters? I discovered snow on a metal roof with NO snow guards will rip your gutters off. Steel roof. No gutters. Jack

I used SnoBlox Snow Guards on my new wood shop. I actually glued them on because Snoblox wants 1.5" penetration with screws and I put steel over plywood so didn't have that. I was really worried they wouldn't hold up and I'd find them laying all over the place but they've been up there four years now and work as advertised.
I initially put them on because the back of my shop is up against a driveway and every time I'd plow the snow would slide off the shop roof and dump on the freshly plowed driveway. And that stuff that drops off the roof is HARD to plow, avalanche effect I guess.
My new fur shed is steel over 2 x 4 purlins and will be getting mechanically fastened SnoBlox Snow Guards for the same reason as the wood shop and also to keep the gutters from being ripped off.
Eh...wot?

Jack Do you have gutters? I discovered snow on a metal roof with NO snow guards will rip your gutters off. I have a metal roof on my camp, 8 /12 pitch, gutters, no snow guards. If you hang your gutters low on the fascia board, rain will still go into into, snow will slide past it. Camp was built in 2009, it’s seen 13 northern Pa winters. If there was gonna be a problem, I’d have already seen it. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/4x2Xxx21/IMG-0615.jpg)

We install Snow Defender guards when we install standing seam and steel panel roofing, Ice loads destroy gutters, landscape plants, and guards can preclude injury to pets and people. When I sign a contract for metal roofing, I always have customers sign off acknowledging potential risks above if they elect NOT to have snow guards. Although, in SE PA, the past few years we have not have the snow loads on the roofs…..

Everybody thinks steel roofs are great. Personally, I dang near hate them! Prefer a good shingles roof.
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

I just use extra pieces of drip edge over the doors for the metal roofs. Way cheaper than the other stuff. If you were under it without it when the snow comes off it would likely hurt you, or even bury a child. Sounds like thunder from inside the house.
