Grouse hunters have today also then quiet in the woods. I had to look that up. It always used to close 12/31 but they must have changed it.

Fantastic! Congrats on getting a cat! Nothing moved around here last night unfortunately but I have hopes.

It finally happened today. Picked an average size cat. They moved, found cat tracks all over. Congrats great looking cat.

Nice cat! Congratulations. Yes, they appear to have moved last night and hopefully they will again tonight. I had a cat work where I had sets before Christmas so I reset that spot. My big beaver adventure was a complete bust. The flowage has 1.5 inches of BAD ice, 4 inches of air under it and then open water. There was no way it would hold me. Of course I found this out after I had packed all the gear in there. Next I went to a series of small ponds I haven't trapped in years and there were Beaver EVERYWHERE in there! 5 little ponds had 8 houses that I could see.......but again, about an inch of ice, less closer to the houses. This area also had more cat sign than I think I have ever seen but lots of very small tracks. With some cold weather finally coming I decided not to risk frostbite on the toes of kittens I would release so I never set it. I may go back in a couple of days with some cages. There is one track that I would like to pinch and hang on a scale. He looks like a big old Tom. It was a long, frustrating day for only getting a few sets in.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I was working for the DNR this morning but no cats today. Where were the Fisher when the season was open?

More empty traps for me today. Did put out a few mink and weasel boxes.
