Trekked up on the mountain again this morning for a morning muzzleloader hunt.

There was a small mountain stream beside me in the holler I had staked out. Watching down the mountain for a Deer to pass by that was heading to the bedding area from the fields below, I saw what appeared to be a Mink working up the crick. The closer it got, the bigger it got, lol.

Sure enough, my second guess of what it was, was correct. A Fisher. It didn't see me even tho it passed within 15' of me, camo must work. I'm guessing it was a female going by size and coloring. I've seen a couple while hunting in Maine, but that's the first one I've seen in Pa., not counting one I had on a trail camera.

No Deer, but did have some Turkey whistle overhead when they came off the roost from further up on the mountain. The air going past their wings sure does whistle!

Are you allowed to shoot fur under your trapping licence?

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

How neat that you got to see him! I’d take critters like that over seeing deer any day!

However, doesn’t help my craving for venison!!!

You live in a good area for seeing all sorts of animals, Racer Man.

It's neat, isn't it ? Observing them, hearing them. Most of the world's population never notices . Or lives even close to nature .

Yup...you don't see them every day. Nothing like following a set of fishah tracks in the snow...headed right for your set.

Nevah seen one while fisher trapping...

But saw one in a tree..out the Bathroom window ..during the summah. Go figure.

Worth every minute watching one

I was on state ground, so if interested next season I can point ya there. Same mountain I got one on cam a couple years ago, but 3-4 miles west of there.

I fell asleep on a rock during deer season a couple years ago. I was jolted awake by one sniffing my boots. The stare down was epic. How I didn't lose control of my bodily functions I'll never know.

The speed possum grin

First one was in the house garbage.
Second blew up Paps antique rat trap.
Then there was the one in a friend of a friends freezer
waiting for the circus to open.
I told him some were chipped and easily tracked.
He got all krinkle faced.
Quite entertaining little buggers.

Did see one in an outdoor setting. It seemed to be working
muskrat dens during low water.
