Green County. The small town and the county sheriff's department in mybarea both have reserve officers. I think you have to work 18hrs a month or similar.

we can do part time officers and a lot of officers work post retirement part time but there is a limit to the number of hours they can work.
we have officers that work part time for more than one agency

the difference is pre 2002 you could be sworn in without 60 college credits and academy

around here it was not uncommon to have several reserve officers that could be the banker , the school bus driver , locals invested in the community not doing it for the money but doing it for the community.

like volunteer cops very similar to volunteer firemen there was a training for them but it wasn't like having to have a 2 year degree and 10 weeks of academy.

a friend of mine was a Jailer and deputy 76-88 her husband farmed full time but was a Reserve Deputy.

I from my understanding that's how it is reserve steps in with events and things and the 18hr is a min to have the slot after they get the training. The sheriff deputy and local city cop that told me about it both said if your interested watch here for the add and apply for it.
