My dad always called them tennies, that's what I still call them. here tennishoes might as well just be a singular word because that is how it is said no break between.

Sneakers, definitely sneakers.
And what the heck is a western grebe doing in Pennsylvania? Honestly!!!! I am largely unfamiliar with migratory birds and I was looking to see if it might be a rail or some other kinda bird. I have no clue what he’s doing here. I think someone played a joke on him, maybe slipped him a mickey….

Grebes, like loons, can't really "walk" on land or stand really. They just lay on their belly and push with their feet. Bad center of gravity they are designed to swim.

Their feet are not webbed, but each toe is real wide to function as a webbed foot.
