Going to try to retire Dec this year. My Honda car and dodge truck are old. 150,000 Miles on each. Went out looking today. The cheapest new 2023 or 2024 Toyota Tacoma 4 door , 4x4 is $43,000. That’s the cheapest model. Unbelievable. So looking at a Nissan Frontier 4 door 4x4 V6. The cheaper model s or sv is running about 37,000. Still to Much money for me. I noticed that there is a lot of 2022 and 2023 Nissan frontiers just like the new one I looked at with 20,000 miles on them for $29,000. All over USA. Dealer said rental cars coming on market. I am thinking about going this route. They still have a good warranty left on them with 20,000 miles on them plus I can buy a extended warrant for couple years for 1500.00 total. I have heard the extended warranty’s our better then they were 10 years ago ? So any one have a review on a 2022 or 2023 Nissan Frontier 4x4 ? Thanks. Marty

I have a 2011 model and it’s been very reliable. Had several Tacomas before that and the Nissan is much more comfortable for me at 6’2”. I don’t see any difference in build quality, power or reliability. Honestly, that sounds like a good deal. I would smile every time I met a Tacoma owner and think of the $15K I saved.

Had one a few years back. Absolutely worthless. If I wanted to go up over the pass, it had to shift WAY down. Most gutless pickup I’ve ever owned. I’m not a brand loyal type of guy. I’ve had Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Jeep, Nissan, and even multiples of most of those, but I’ll never have another Nissan.
Why do I carry 10mm? Because shooting twice is just silly.

I got a 2016 new ,got 79000 on it now . It is OK .Wanted a Toyota when we bought it but settled for the Frontier.Mine has the 6 speed stick .Just like you and the difference scared me away .If I turned the clock back now I would get the Toyota .

It’s about $6000 Difference between Toyota and the Nissan on a New 2023 with no miles just a few 2023 left. V6. The 2024 Toyota Tacoma all Have 4 cylinders with turbo so will See how that works out for them. On a 2022 with same options and 20,000 miles on each truck Nissan frointer is about $10,000 $12,000 difference. That’s a lot of money. I do hate to get rid of dodge truck. It has 146,000 Miles on it. It’s 4.7 V8 the tradesman model. Runs great. No issues. But what make it’s so great is I have a A.R.E camper shell on it all alllumin with side pockets and a cargo glide bed pull out. They sure are nice. don’t have to dig for stuff under the shell. Just pull the bed tray out. Rated 1500 pounds on ball bearing. I will not be able to buy these 2 items for the Nissan Frontier because going into retirement. Make a great great trapping truck. Toyota Tacoma are nice but just cannot pay that. ND

Scotty on YouTube hates Nissan vehicles. The reason why Scotty Kilmer doesn't like them is because in 1999 , they got into bed with Renault. Quality has dropped off a lot. I've owned a couple pre 2000 Nissan's , they were great. Buying a new one , probably not even though I think the GTR would be a fun ride. Pre 2000 , Nissan was about par with Toyota or Honda , not anymore.

Like Cragar said....I had a '88 Nissan stick with a king cab and loved it. Later on bought a '94 Nissan and it was just OK. Something changed...got two friends that have the Frontier model and have no complaints but they do not trap...just hunt.

I had a Frontier back in the early 2000s. Peppy little six-cylinder crew cab. Like others here, I had a hard time justifying the extra ten grand for a Tacoma. It was a decent truck. I'm tempted to buy another.

The new ones (either ) have much better financing than you can get for a used one ( they did ) .

Martyd, I did what you’re contemplating and got a lease return from the dealership. 2019 4X4 Frontier SV with about 15,000 miles on it. I got free oil changes for life for an extra $525 and total was about $26,000
I’ve got 77,000 miles on it now and like it a lot. Zero problems so far knock on wood.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Marty I'd keep driving what you have and make car payments to yourself until you really need to buy a new one. You'll have a big down payment by then. If your going to finance it anyway, may as well pretend you have a payment already.
