While they keep these clowns on death row with nothing to lose as you can only kill them once they are a danger to others for all that time. Jail staff should no have to put up with the danger any longer then necessary . Make the Judge take them home after 10 days and see how short the waits get then.

I dont have a problem with being sure they got the right person. It has happened that they did not. Especially when the accused has to have a public defender.

The only reason for executions is to serve as a deterrent. IMO. A quick death in my case would be preferred to a life incarcerated.. I personally would not try to live in prison with no hope of release.

A public execution would get folks attention. Especially something public like hanging. I suspect even if the neck doesnt break the criminal would be unconscious in seconds. Just like choking out a coyote. If their head pops off that would be quick also.

Killing people behind closed doors is not going to be real to most people. World is full of people that wont eat a steak cut from an animal they watch get gutted and butchered.

Because some on death row have later been found not guilty due to dna or whatever im not in a hurry to rush them to the hanging tree but it shouldn't be 30 years later! I also don't think you should sentence someone to death unless their is no question at all they actually did it. If a hint of doubt about it, put them in prison for life with no parole.

From what I read about the execution, it sounds like a lot of the commotion in his last couple minutes were do to Smith trying to hold his breath and not breathe for as long as possible. You breathe air that is 100% oxygen depleted, you’re going down in seconds.

I had a lot of experience working in mines that were, in some cases, over 50-60 years old. Some workings were driven in the 1920’s. In old poorly ventilated areas of a coal mine, oxygen in the air is depleted by oxidation with coal. Leaving the atmosphere called blackdamp, similar to total nitrogen…like in this execution. It won’t support life, and in some cases, one good breath and you go unconscious. If someone doesn’t pull you back, you’ll be dead.

I watched them chop a guys head off with a sward in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. He was what they called a Highway Man. He would drive out in the middle of nowhere and stop and open the hood of his car. When someone stopped to help him, he robbed them. They blocked off a square block parking lot and moved all the vehicles. At noon they marched him out and the executioner walked out quartering toward him from the rear. The sward was drawn at two steps from him, one quick step and a swing. His head rolled off in front of his body, which slumped over slow. A guy picked up the head by the hair and said "Let the punishment fit the crime" in Arabic. A orange pickup drove out and two guys got out in orange jump suits and one guy on the head end and one at the feet, one two threed him into the back over the side. Threw the head in the back and drove off. Another pickup came out with a water tank and they washed the cobble stone down. It seemed effective. I was stationed at Elf One at the time. Anyone else do a hitch at Elf One? It was a few years before Desert Storm.

Because there are laws (probably also passed by liberals) that prevent doctors from prescribing or administering drugs that are not FDA approved. The version of euthanasia drugs vets used aren't. Same drug, more than likely, just not sold as a "for human consumption" version of it.
