I believe they are handled open like bear.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I skinned them cased and fleshed and salted. Sold them tanned they had the feet skinned with claws, I miss trapping them, my old dog treed two while checking traps!

Doubt I'll ever trap one but that would be my bucket list animal. I'd feel blessed just with the 2 you got treed.

I’ve made a couple wooden stretchers for lions. I’ve tubed more than I’ve opened. All personal preference and what you plan to do with it.

What wooden stretcher did you use for them cased?

I say a big stretcher. Local kid ran his dogs in the State Park a few years ago.

You could make you own but if you want a Cadillac of a board, call Leon at Top Lot Stretcher Company. I would imagine he would make you one and It would be a work of art. His wolf boards were ALMOST to pretty to use.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I have done a few cats. Use a wolf stretcher and a couple of mink boards for the front legs. That works very well.

We have one hanging now in the garage.
Cased skinned with feet on, front legs are intact just pulled inside out to flesh and salt.
Layed it down to salt then turned over, hanging now.
Going to Moyle next week for tanning.
