Tearing off old siding to put on new and looky what tumbled out alongside the new windows put in who knows how many years ago. Dandy drowner weights, eh? Good thing whoever did the last window job didn't have a use for 'em.

I've got maybe six dozen sash weights, but have never come across any that look like this or weigh this much;

I used sash weights years ago,.J curtis Grigg style, but more rounded type.
Those look elongated and flat,..would work well I think in deep pockets.
Good find!

I have a pile of them, collected over the years, about 100. They make good weights for long lining ground fish. For rocky bottoms I prefer socks filled with rocks. They come free easy instead of hanging up and holding.

Thanks for reminding me. I need to get some more. You can dip them in acetone and rusty metal primer with your water traps to help with the rust not getting all over.

I have over a hundred from 4lbs to 18 lbs. The 4 pounders are good for throw lines.

I've used sash weights for mink in areas where you can't get a stake in the ground, but if you catch a big coon you'll be looking all over tarnation for it.

On occasion I use a sash weight and Fox grapple. Pretty effective !
