Thats where the current market shines...thank God holes no longer matter. I'd be sunk otherwise...the last 32 beaver I skinned only had about 25% clear skins, the rest were bit or scarred up bad.

This one was #24 for the day…time for a Henry Weinhard! ( 1 lg and the rest all XL’s and blankets). Good day BP,and a fine job on that beaver. You should have a great avg with those sizes.

Thanks Boco. I wish I could have got my beaver up to FHA this season but it ain't gonna happen. I did get 14 lbs of very nice castor sent up. I'm curious to see what happens with it....kind of an experiment now that they have that new "Western Select" grade.

24 put up in 8 hours! I’ll bet you’ve skinned over a hundred beaver in your life!….LOLFor me to do a nice job it’s about 45min. per beaver.

Was timed once doing a demo at the Prineville OTC sale. From first touch (XL size beaver) to finished on the board was 28 minutes. And I was talking while I was going. That was about 13-14 years ago. I am slower now, also I spend a bit of time cleaning up the castors real nice when i pull them.
I currently am averaging 25 minutes skinning and 20 minutes boarding for about 45 minutes total on beaver. Some big brutes a little more.

Never timed myself. Nice and peaceful out in the barn while I'm putting up fur and that's what I like. Next year Miss Aalaiya will be fleshing for the first time. I can't wait. If she decides to keep on trapping later in life I'll have done my job and she can have all my trapping supplies when I'm gone.
BP, if I did the numbers you do id certainly be timing myself too.

One of the biggest draws to me of this site is that others put up fur also. I love those threads the most. Seems to me that the art of putting up fur is on the downswing. Lot more people just interested in the trapping aspect and want to sell in the grease. Their problem though seems to be finding a buyer. For them Groeny seems to be the answer now. He certainly takes on a lot of grease coon and beaver. And promotes doing so.

I’m ten minutes away from Groenewold’s. He told me $3 more for dried hides. For me that’s a no brainer. Sold 3 50-60 pounders for $32 in the grease. So it depends on your situation. I hope to set a few traps around the first of March .

Kevin, I would do the same as you under those circumstances. However, 50-60 pounders (blankets) should be fetching $40+ on today's market, so I probably would try to get them to FHA or another buyer were I you.

Looking good there washxc. Love to see them prime coon!
I managed to get 13 traps out yesterday on a section of river I trapped when the water was real high. Picked up 6 beaver and 2 nutria today and set an additional 12 traps for a total of 25. Taking a Trapperman member newbie on a ride-a-long tomorrow.

The one on the right looks like a fighter. Unless it was bit up after it was caught. I've trapped areas before where a beaver would come along and bite up every beaver I had in a trap.I have that happen a lot. Like I've said before, think goodness for holes not mattering anymore. The only things those holes hurt are your feelings.

Never fails...if you take someone on a ride-along you'll have a subpar day. Eight beaver out of 25 traps and three of them kits! Time to pull and move on. It was nice meeting my Trapperman ride-along. Goes by "Sodpoodle" for his handle on here and lives off-grid up in the Cascades. Interesting people we have on here. I ended up giving him one of my kits so that he and his dog can dine on some premium table fare tonight.
