Wow that cuts much faster than I thought it would. There is no end to the talent on this sight. Great job scuba and thanks for sharing.
Right now I am running it without cooling and at half throttle. Just testing angles, blade tension and if the blade will stay on the shives etc. Once I have all of that sorted and tested I'll let it eat. Then it should cut a good bit faster than in this video clip for the first boards. The band mills that one can buy in this size usually run something around 15 HP ... this one has 22 and being a twin cylinder I thought would give a more even torque as well. Alas I have to go to Hilton Head tomorrow for a week of fixing boats to pay the bills. So playing with the mill has to be put on hold till I get back. But once its up and running properly, I'll do another video.

Very nice Its amazing a band saw blade cuts that straight.
There is a good bit of tension on that band . About a ton of pressure pushing the wheels apart and that holds it taught. The rollers are pretty much just there to keep it on the wheels when you push it through the log.

Beats the heck out of my Alaskan , you didn’t even have to get on your knees, lol.
Originally I planned to mill the lumber for my new home with my alaskan mill. After about a dozen oak slabs I started the build of this mill. Don't get me wrong, the Alaskan mill has its place and I'll keep it. BUT this is way easier and faster. And I don't have to sharpen a chain every other board and a saw band for this mill costs me 27 bucks and should last for about 2 to 3 good size oak logs. So with 20 bands I can cut the lumber for my house. Eventually I'll set up to sharpen and set the band saw blades as well, but thats a little way down the road yet. I need to look at a good inventory of blunt bands before I go down that road.

And you won't get as much wast with your band saw scuba. Heck I bet you save at least a full board not turning it into dust with the chain saw. I can't believe it's going to be able to cut even faster once you get everything adjusted and angles figured out.

You are right. The kerf on a bandsaw like this is just over 1/16th as opposed to a 1/4" of a chainsaw ... Thats why it cuts faster and uses less pressure and power as it does not have to cut and move so much wood. The 22 HP engine i put on it is in reality a little to much. But it is what I had at hand and i have not heard anyone complain about having to much power in a saw
