I bought these piranha pellets, they are .177, 4.5mm
I noticed they fit tighter in the chamber or loading spot, hard to push into the hole.
No other pellets I bought were that way, all others slid in place easily.
It seems to shoot ok out to 50 ft, then they look like they are all over the place at 100' , I'm guessing they start tumbling?
My old junk crossman wasn't strong enough to push the tight pellet out of the barrel with multiple pumps

Yep, unfortunately they were made for some of the cheap chinese airguns that have an oversized bore. Anything quality you almost need to hammer them in.

Most of my air rifles and pellets came from Straight Shooters supply out of MN. They stocked a gob and a bunch of pellets, but general theory was each gun was going to have it's preference, so Straight Shooters put together sample packs.......about 20 to 25 pellets of each type of pellet they sold. Deal was you shot several and one of them would work better than the rest. I'm thinking that was hokum, but tried it and lo and behold, that actually worked. The little Beeman R7 would spit Beeman Trophy pellets thru the same hole. Scattered others. Another rifle did the same thing with of all things, the old Crosman Premiers.......they kind they sold in boxes of 1,250. I could set up .45 brass cases at 50 yards and knock off 4 of 5 on the first shot. Nothing else even came close.

Then Beeman dropped the Trophy. Crosman changed the dies used to make the Premiers and all the magic was gone. The old Premier was now something else. Eventually even Straight Shooters threw in the towel and went out of business. Now days, I fear what is available is mostly chinese junk. You get to pick from the lowest common denominator. None of it precision or accurate.

But from what is out there, if you do have some type of air rifle that you think might be accurate, the sample pack idea might still apply, if you can find anybody offering one.

Same problem you have shooting 00 buck out of full choke. You are deforming them and they are sailing off I bet.

I did a search for piranha pellets and here is the first statement. These pellets are very uniform in size and shape with a rim around the head watch helps make it fit very tight in the barrel. they hit the target extremely hard ... Pros and cons: Hit the target extremely hard with a lot of damage ⋅ Good construction ⋅ It says they are made by Crosman.

The crosman premiers have always been a good performer for the price. When you get into the jsb, h&n, rws and other foreign made pellets, they are made of a softer lead. Crosman pellets are a little harder antimony in their lead. Makes them better for dispatch but some guns don't shoot them as well as most of the higher end airguns are choked. I have a lot of pellets from different companies but i will still use the premiers most of the time as you can walk into wallyworld and get a tin for 7bux or so.

Lol they actually have to hit something to hit hard !
I couldn't even find a pattern, they were so wild at 100 feet
The crossman pellet landed same exact spot as the first pellet, the piranha ones were at least a foot off, all over the place

Pellet design was a real game player in my springer.
Diabolo style seemed my best.
I then experimented with Brands
Finding a fit is huge.

Interesting article if you wish.

Diabolo Pellet.

I have a 25 caliber Beeman Kodiak pellet rifle. It likes the Beeman Kodiak pellets (37 grain) interestingly enough and shoots the Ram points well also. The Beeman Crow Magnum pellets (there is also a Beeman Crow Magnum rifle, @although it wasn't made in 25 caliber to my knowledge. Beeman really needs to expand their vocabulary of names) are a huge hollow point and devastating on game, but I had a similar experience with them, out to almost 20 yards they were accurate but go over 20 yards and they started to tumble and flew all over the place.

Thanks for the information, I am not very familiar with a pellet gun I guess.
I didn't think it could be so technical
