How is everyones bees doing this spring. Ours here have started drawing comb this last week and are looking good.

I saw some wild ones the other day.

Not too special. 9% loss at moment. But there’s a bunch of hungry ones. As far as they are concerned spring doesn’t arrive here until April 25-May 5th normally. So there’s a long ways to go until we are out of the winter and moving forward. We see first brood right at mid February when daylight hours have increased enough. But only tiny patches on one or two frames.

I checked 3 weeks or so back and have lost 2 hives out of 20. My best producer and strongest and building hive out of the 7 I made from splits. Have a late swarm in a trap I didn't think would survive but they were alive at that time. Was looking like a very early spring but we just hit another cold snap.

After tomorrow we will be in the 70's for a while, pear trees will be in full bloom here this week so it is time to start preparing for splits soon

Bees are out and building up but very little for them to work. I usually lose a hive or two when they come out early. Would almost bet we are going to lose the pear, peach, and plum crop. Bloom buds way to early

25 this morning may have already lost the pear today

I started getting honey supers ready last week yesterday the low here was 14 this morning it is 23 for a low. Things is trying to bud out hope they hold off for three more weeks don't want to loose the early tree blooms.

I checked my hives about 2 weeks ago . All were still alive , but they have been going through their stores, I added another 5 pounds of sugar to each . If it gets above freezing again . I will have another look. We are still a long way from spring here, We had a big snow storm over the weekend. Just ready to dig out if it warms up. old 243
