The book I sent was book rate is what I was told for $4.00 to go 15 miles and take 4 days to get there.

Strange things do happen, but I have to say that out of thousands of usps packages I can count on one hand the problems. I do think more issues happen with small items that can get stuck in a conveyor belt.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

The nearest town to me is seven miles away. Less than a thousand people but they have their own Post Office. They were my PO for decades. Some great, long-time employees working there. One woman in particular is a great community asset. she knows everyone and all the goings on.
I caught a non-target canine two seasons ago and took it home with me. I told the landowner who told the PO lady who found the owners almost immediately. It had come from over five miles away. She called me to let me know, I took it to her after hours at the PO and she took it back to the owners.
The carrier was great too. She'd drop stuff on the porch that was too big for the box. She'd take letters I forgot to stamp and leave me a note saying I owed her fifty cents or whatever it was at the time.
For reasons known only to the USPS, a few years ago they started having my mail delivered out of a PO in a larger town another five miles away. The PO employees are incompetent and rude and the various carriers they employ suck, missing mail, other people's mail, etc.
I still do all my business out of my old PO and only go to the new one when I have to pick up a registered letter or something like that.
Wish they never would have switched me.
Eh...wot?

USPS tracking may as well not exist X2. At my post office they even circle the tracking part with a pen right in front of you. Maybe it's an inside joke with them

A few years ago when I lived in Florida, my dad was living and living in Newark, Ohio which is 30 miles east of Columbus. He called and said he was sending me a check for some equipment I was wanting for my business and he was late getting it mailed. So, he sent it over-night. He also said it was guaranteed to be delivered over-night.
I ask him what the guarantee penalty was if It didn't get here in that time frame, He said, since I had to sign for the letter for me to send him the receipt and he would get his money back.
Well, it did not get here the next day, but the following day. So, as I was instructed by him, I sent the receipt to him and he got his money back.
A couple of days later, I ran into the Assistant Postmaster in Palatka, Florida, ten miles away from me, and ask her about the deal. All of my regular mail, I thought came from there. She told me that is didn't, it came from Daytona, 75 miles away. The road east of me, closest to Palatka, was the dividing line... so everything that came into the Palatka office for me was forwarded to Daytona.
She advised to have my dad send everything of any impertinence to send over-night and he would always get his money back. She said they had been arguing this point to the P.O.H.Q. for years, but they wouldn't do anything about it.
The funny thing is after my street to the south was a river which would have been a much better cut off area.
So, he did that is the future.

Yesterday I found my new golf clubs and bag in the front seat of my pickup. I figured the UPS guy just thought it was easier to drop them off here at work, instead of taking them to my house. When I got home, there on the porch was another UPS package for my wife. He had to go there anyhow, yet still left my stuff where only I could find it. It's rare to find good people like that anymore!!

I had a great UPS man but he must have retired he used to drop a lot of our stuff off at he co-op when my wife worked there it was nice both the mailman and the ups man liked stopping by the co-op as there was a bathroom and place to fill up water no store just a co-op office with pull through parking right outside the door.

I do everything through UPS or FedEx if at all possible. It might cost a little more sometimes, but it's worth not having to deal with the hassle of USPS.
