Hutchy, you should make some jigging plugs for ice fishing. I made a few and they work good. I made them along the lines of a Salmo Chubby Darter. I made mine 3-5 inches long I drilled the body and poured lead in them to make them sink. I ran a single treble hook in about the center of the bottom. Down 10-12 feet they swim a 4-6 foot oval. With the plug you make it would be a piece of cake for you. Mine have no fins of any sort, just a wood body. They all swam good.
