Every state is diff. Some states don't have sales tax on food some do. Some you pay through the nose for car registration and others not. Usually one is high and one is low. They got to get their money somehow. Each state just goes about it diff. Thats why so many people retire to FL or TN. There isn't state income tax there. So when you retire and draw your money out you don't have state taxes taken out there. Here in Ohio you go to fast food places and getting it to go is a lower price than eating in. If you eat in you pay more tax.

I buy totes or 5 gallon pails at Menards in Duluth. I take pleasure in telling the Cashier 0 when they ask him many bags did you use !

No sales tax on food but some of the smaller stores add on a 3 to 3.5 percent surcharge if you use a debit or credit card and or have a minimum purchase amount if you use a debit card.

Minnesota no taxes on food or clothing. Property taxes a sky high and sales taxes are about 8% in most areas. Crazy.

If you look at your receipt down at the bottom you will see you pay a "tax" with a different name. Sur Charge is what they call it. I believe it is 5% off the top of my head. It is one of your benefits. No tax on base, just a sur charge.

Yes, no tax in Iowa on certain groceries. I had an experience in HyVee a few months ago. They had Bugles on special. My wife and I picked up a half dozen different kinds. We went through their self checkout and on the way out I notice we were charged tax on 2 of the packages of bugles. We went to customer service where the guy behind the counter gave the explanation that certain items with a high sugar content were now being charged tax.

Hard to believe in NY, but no

In Charlottesville they slap you with a bag tax @ the grocery store if you don't use a bag. Don't try to make sense out of it , you will only get a headache.
