That only works if you have a way to keep feeding ammunition into the gun. Even a semiautomatic pistol, without any modifications, can shoot an enormous amount of ammunition, if you can feed it in. You can shoot 30 rounds through a plain old Glock in under 2 seconds.

During training, almost of all of used to shoot 57 rounds through a Glock 17, with 2 magazine changes, in under 7 seconds. The slowest woman in the class could shoot all the live rounds in under 11 seconds, while having to clear 5 dummy rounds, tap, rack and go.
