As posted before, been running cheap dog food with golf ball. Have always used dog food trail to keep from climbing steep creek banks and working multiple trails. Certain times of year mice and other vermin clean up my trail leaving only bait under ball and catches go down. Was thinking about buying couple gallons of fish oil but after shipping will get expensive. Do any of you make your own trailing scent that would also work below freezing?

I mixed up a trailing scent a few years ago. Can’t remember exactly, but used fryer oil as my base, mixed in some castor, some fish oil, and maybe something else. Not sure if it made a difference, but caught several coons on that trip

Used fryer oil from a restaurant works. You can add anise or a little shellfish oil to spike it if desired.

Right answer and you can get it for free in many cases.
Show up here and I'll give you all you could possibly use in several seasons
