Just the other day I was arguing with a guy at the gas pump about how much better my Hi-Point was than his Colt.

More cop better practice at the range then. And learn hand to hand combat so most of them don't look like fools.

I have revolvers and autos... Big bore and small bore. I like them all.

I think more bullets fired would solve this issue. But the does not mean they need more capacity. Infact less could have the effect of slowing them down and having to make the rounds hit where they need to

there was a shoot several years back

the officer and the perp were driving the same Chevy Impala and carrying the same S&W 9mm 16+1
traffic stop , guy pulls over into a parking lot cop parks behind him as cop gets out of the car the driver comes out of his car and starts shooting cop is clipped , the two dance around the cars firing shots at each other never a clear shot at each other both using the car for cover
now the cop was hit first and got hit a second time
guns identical
cars the same they were using both for cover
the Reload tipped the scale and ended the fight.

if your making a clear shot better aim will reduce rounds , when you're never going to get a clear shot and it takes a bunch of rounds to get a stop.

I just don't take shots that are not clear. Especially in an urban area you need to know where ever shot goes.

But you know like new york cops shooting 7 or more bystander and missing the bad guy with their 15lp required triggers. Ya I think practice and training would help their accuracy and keep people from being wounded.

My woods carry is a Super Redhawk in .480. My hardcast handloads usually come out at about 407 grains, and I load them at just under 1200 FPS. I figure that's almost a 45-70 in a wheel gun I can wear on my belt.

For 2 legged predators in dynamic environments, (living in an urban area in 2020) I prefer my Glock 19 with a trijicon RMR and an 11.5 in AR in the truck.

NYC is messed up and they absolutely cause problems with those 15 pound triggers.
I shot a gun with one for a little while , you had to train a lot around that trigger.

I also know a former NYPD officer and NDs were a real issue in the locker room and he left as they were switching to glocks he still carried a 38.
you do need to know where every shot goes or reasonably have the ability to know they won't go bad places.

but dancing around a car for cover on the side of a deserted road or empty parking lot with one one around in the middle of the night , your not waiting on those perfect shots you have to shoot the car a few times catch the ancillary hits as you can before you bleed out yourself.

more doesn't mean you have to use them , it doesn't excuse you from liability but it sure is a game changer when you have more rounds.

I think the spray and pray idea is a bad one and would only get worse the closer you get to town. If I had ever taken an oath to serve and protect and somehow injured (or worse) an innocent party, I'd consider myself a failure.

I do NOT envy LEO's and the position some cities are putting them in lately, but wrong is still wrong.

I guess the thought of hiring the deck and shooting the guy in the foot/ ankle that was exposed under the car then the body head when he hit the ground from that never occurred to him. Rounds would be staying low also. Tunnel vision when the chips fell and thinking went out the window. That's when training comes in. Yes more rounds are always nice. The problem is they don't train practice and they do uses them along with reloading. So slowing them down and having to make the shots count would likely cause then to make shots count and train more.

I'd point out that rounds only stay low until they hit some sort of curb or slightly angled hard surface. I'm not yet prepared to throw the LEO under the bus but if shooting under the car was the only choice hr had then that's all he could do. Stopping violent hombres has all kinds of upsides after all.

without getting to hung up on this one event , it does make a good example for a bunch of things.

as one of my cop friends says about 0500-1700 shifts the guy on 1700-0500 sees all the crap

they were chasing each other around not a one way battel and it was as I understand it , Dark in parking lot without other people

also Chevy impalas have about 6 inches of ground clearance and if your feet are by a tire are you going to see them , going that low makes you not mobile

there are times to go low and shoot legs , dark shoes on dark pavement under a low car in the dark maybe it would work but if your dancing around trying to get each other exchanging fire back and forth do you take the risk that laying down and loosing all your mobility is the way to win or do you do as much evading as you do firing back.

I clearly wasn't there but the way I read the encounter he was hit a second time and so he was fighting for his life and trying to stay alive , he was landing hits also but since little to no part of the torso was exposed they weren't stopping hits till the end.

When Leftlane was 19, he did a coyote in Laos with a revolver shot at a thousand yards in high wind. Maybe eight or even ten guys in the world could have made that shot. It's the only thing he was ever good at... Well, see you tomorrow.
