It is soon spring And for many that means that start of the dirt track season. There is a huge following of dirt track racing in South Central PA This area has a number of well known tracks and they all draw very large crowds for some of the special events In the early 1950s there was a track that had just been built an was drawing really large crowds for a new track I thick the owners name was Clyde Bolen I was born in an old farmhouse less than a mile from Ihe track I was born at about the same time the track open for SAT & Sun racing So I have no knowledge of racing at the track But all my older cousins and uncles would talk about it Bolen had built the track himself And at the start of te 3rd turn he had put a big metal pipe and graded the infield so the water from any rain would drain out that pipe . To do that he hauled in ton of a red clay mix f soil to build the track the clay mix was designed to pack solid to give a smooth surface for the cars And it held water so it would not dry out and cause the cars to get poor traction. It became a very popular place for t he drivers and the people that attended the races . But things did not workout as far as the financial end of it so it closed The track went out of business The surrounding area was farmland and was continued to be farmed .One of my uncles owned a farm that adjoined the RaceTrack Farm as it became known as at the time I recall going there one weekend afternoon and racing a few laps around the track . .They had been fans of the racing along with my Dad who was really caught up in the action . At some point IN THE 2000 TO 2010 time frame I was hunting during deer season with a cousin and he killed a deer there My uncle at the time allowed family members to hunt .But a story I enjoy more was a time my one cousin and older brother to me and I where pheasant Hunting there on a cool Sat afternoon hunt near the 3rd turn drain pipe it was over grown with small bushes and weeds my cousin flushed and killed a Race track ringneck rooster It was a very nice size and a real prize to 3 young hunters I have included a picture that I took in 1996 It shows the red clay soil used to build the track And the round tree in the distance is where the pheasant was flushed at .Yes over the years I attended my share of sprint car races but the Bowling Green Speed way is still my favorite race track Does anyone have a favorite driver or event that was part of sprint car racing Not ABLE TO LOSD PIC ST TIS TIME WILL TRY LATER

The track in Knoxville, Iowa is called the sprint car capital of the world. I've never been to a sprint car race there, but I have seen the NASCAR truck series race at that track. Pretty cool place.
There is also a bid sprint car museum there.

Here's an article on it.

It can be seen about the very middle.

I've been to most tracks in central Pa, and raced at alot of them in one division or another. Bowling Green is one I don't remember tho.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

You don't remember it because you were not born yet.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Dirt track racing is REAL racing. I grew up watching dirt racing most every Saturday night in the summer. My favorite was the outlaw late models….you could feel the power!
