Spotted two deer scrapes today that are still open. Kind of late don't you think?

Nope, I've seen scrapes open year round.

We’ve been cleaning limbs and trees from field edges the past couple weeks and they’re still using them here. We left a few alone in some ideal locations

Some are always year around.

I've seen them this time of year. Saw one the other day pretty clean with fresh tracks in it.

Last week I saw a 6 point that hadn't shed his rack. Rack looked healthy.
I thought it was kinda late for that.

The scrapes ( on the ground) aren't being used this time of year much, it's the licking branch above it that get the attention.

And will almost 100% be in a spot where deer trails tend to congregate.

It is crazy to me how long bucks keep their antlers down south. By the third week of December the majority are cherry topped here.

Seen em down here in April still sporting both sides.

Community scrapes stay open year round and used by every deer and critter around.

Nature ain’t exact, lol. Trapping all year has its advantages of seeing nature all through its seasons.

If there is large population of young of the year does some of them will come into heat abut now They are generally does that are single fawns Not part of twins and often the were born a bit early than most The slight advantages means they are a little more mature So a doe that is barely 12 months old is having her first fawn at maybe 14 months old her fi In my area antler restrictions have made it possible for smaller antlered buck to survive their first gun season And the growing herd has more young of the year then it ever did before So everything is in place to have does coming into heat almost year around And as this is happening it cause /creates more of the same

Southern Illinois 2 days ago doe came out with 3 antlered bucks chasing her around bean field and nothing had spooked them watched them for 10 minutes

Put a camera on one of you find one. You’ll get pics all year. Coyotes love to urinate in them.

Was really surprised by the number of scrapes we have been seeing while running the maple sugaring line this year. Completely snow free this year.
