Here in PA we find them mostly near waterways hiding under bushes & blowdowns. They really sprout up good after rains

the article is a little miss leading talking about mushroom hunters and local season then gets to the problem mushrooms were imported from overseas and not prepared properly used raw in salads.

we cut all of them in half length wise , this will help tell you the false morels as they are not hollow. it also helps you clean the dirt and insects out of them.

I've picked morels for 50 years. Literally hundreds of pounds. I think I'll continue to risk it.

as long as your not picking them in china you will probably be just fine.

I seriousy doubt they were unsafe when they were grown/picked either. It was the trip, and then being eaten raw that was the problem. It also says nothing about coming from China, that was made up.

Read the whole story. They were raised in CHINA they were also ate raw or mostly raw.

It says nothing about coming from China. It says they were shipped from over seas. It doesn’t even matter where they come from, they need to be cooked regardless.

I’m guessing you could eat fresh morels raw. If you stack them on top of each other in containers and allow mold to grow, you’re going to have a problem if you eat them raw.

The inability to preserve fresh morels for long periods of time is what makes them so popular when in season.imo.

What a way to go, I'll take my chances.
