I was thinking about using his lure this coming season. So what are your guys thoughts on it.

Night Bandit.

Not anymore..... Not since carrol died... Tried a 4 oz bottle of spotted fury.... Its junk now.

Boars delight and night bandit .I stocked up years ago ,was all I used for coon. Was wondering about Blackie's blend brand now that Carrol passed.

Scott Welch has produced Blackie's lure formulas (for probably 10 years now) along with his own. Blackie wanted Scott to take over "Blackies Blend" when he was done not the other way around. For coon Moneymaker and Sledgehammer work very well. TKO is a proven K-9 producer
worked as well last year as it did 20 years ago

Welches or Blackies Blend made by the same person just different formulas

Red ranger was one of my go - to’s for coyotes for many years.
Money maker and night bandit were a couple of my favorite coon lures too.

For whatever reason, it was my experience that Sledgehammer worked better than other lures for raccoons when trying to catch them in conibear boxes using 5x5 traps.

I really liked Blackies Fur King back in the day.

This stuff really shines during breeding season.

Boars Delight and Fatal Attraction were top notch, I haven't bought anything since Carrol passed away. He was a super nice guy, I talked to him at a couple conventions and even on the phone a couple times.

If we are talking specifically lure only then disregard but I had luck with their MY-T Mouse on yotes this year and I'm sure I'll be throwing it into the mix next season.

I"ve used quite a few Blackies lures and baits sine the 80's and have always thought they were real consistent and quality stuff.And even after he passed away and Welch made them they still seemed good.But I have seen some complaints since they sold again this past time.I am thinking that Sterling Fur &Trap Supply bought them.

I responded earlier to this post but wanted to add this today.
Carrol Black was pretty good about writing me response letter when I sent him a letter with questions. I actually started using his stuff way back when because of that.
I have to credit him for teaching me to use fish for coyotes. He was spot on. For me it was a double kick because back then a decent boar coon brought good money, and so did coyotes. I was surprised at how many coyotes I was picking up when I used ground carp for bait at dirtholes. His fresh ground fish bait was a great bait too. I caught everything at dirtholes on that stuff.
He also taught me a trick I still use today. When a dirthole isn’t producing and sits for a long time, jam a stick into the hole (leave the bedded trap alone) and put a squirt of pee or a small smear of gland lure on the stick and turn the set into a post set. Got a ton of coyotes that way over the years. Sometimes they just are not interested in bait but the territorial angle of a post set works when the other set type doesn’t, and what a simple conversion of a set without much effort.

Great Stuff I used it in the 80's also

When I first started out, I purchased Fur King bait for beaver trapping and had success. I thought I was the bees knees.
To this day it is one of my favorite baits and the smell is pleasant and brings back many fond memories

Fur king!! I still have a few jars left.. I bought a bunch of them several years ago. That stuff smells so good that you almost want to put it on a slice of bread.

Put a gob of that in a pocket set and you have a fur catching machine!!!

When showing people my trapping shed I often let them smell fur king initially to trick them into taking a big whiff , then I break out Jameson’s Jackpot and watch the fun

i love fur king that is all i have used besides his shellfish bait that is a yellow paste. cant remember the name right now but that stuff would stack coons in a pocket set.


just looked it up it was fatal attraction. i buoght that stuff by the gallon jar.
