KYBOY, that must really suck. We've got it good here. Waterways belong to the state and trapping is permitted up to the high water mark on all navigable streams here. I haven't asked permission to trap beaver in over 30 years.

I hate to complain, its a rural aeea and most folks still appreciate trappers and our state has been pretty good to trappers as far as trapping laws go but dang I sure wish we had more public ground to trap..chasing down property owners takes soooo much time

Beaver has a long way to go yet with the blacks taking over country music-prices still rising each auction on the beaver with underfur. The June sale will tell a lot. With felters vying for the hvy and semi sections that will push the top end beaver up toward 80cd.if the garmenters want to get them again.Should be some nice high end fur on the june sale. I have some more on that sale to know where my section of beaver are going. Also plan to harvest some for a month or so until they start to shed in may.Shedders have thin underfur. That is my take on it for now.

Ain't hearing or seeing a whole lotta talk or writings about a big increase in heavy shearable beaver demand. Did I miss it while trying to follow the hatter market?

I think the bigger shearable types might have got a $5-$10 premium over hatter prices from what I could see from auction results.

I think the bigger shearable types might have got a $5-$10 premium over hatter prices from what I could see from auction results. Is that because they were bigger heavily underfurred pelts for the felt market or to be used for garments.
