Who on here uses or have used any of them like Barrons or Stock Advisor and are they worth subscribing too? Thanks.

I took Barrons a few years, but that was in the day when all the info I could get was on the phone or news by mail. I equate that a lot with trapping books. You can read them and get familiar with the workings of it . But knowledge and someone else's advice doesn't replace your drive and work. The thing I've always thought about people selling advice is that the Public is a market in itself and plenty of fish for the catching.

I'm not a stock person, but over the years buy and hold is professed by many. But I can't even do that right, I still have K-mart stock somewhere, lol.

I know I've not given much advice as to what you was wanting but this will get back to top and maybe some of the stock-guys will chime in.

My best advice is to find a system that will lose consistently and then have your wife do the opposite 3 fold and you will be a winner, lol.

For over 2 decades I used Morning star.com After Y-2K we used our first financial planner and worked with that firm for a decade. Today about half of our securities are held in stocks and funds we have owned for 15-30 years. The other half of our securities we have with Thrivent in the managed account sector and they manage those funds. Our management fees are higher with this system but our returns have been better for us.,

Buy an SP 500 index fund and then forget about it.

I have some index funds already.

But I keep a Schwab account for my interest at home to work with.

Looking for a better source of information to select options for my "fun" money. Getting info from the Schwab research data not as easy.

I have been a Barron's subscriber for at least 40 years. It was tough back when everything was print only. When it arrived in the mail it was already two weeks old.
It can be a good source for ideas but nothing is a substitute for your own due diligence.

Other guys that I read when I can are ;

James Grant. Grant's Interest Rate Observer.

Mark Hulbert: Hulbert's Rating Service.................his newsletter digests and rates other newsletters

Howard Marks: Oakmark Capital. This guy IMO is the best there is at getting a good read on what is happening in the economy.

Steve Sosnick: Chief Strategist at Interactive Brokers........contributes to a daily aggregation of articles and opinions on markets and the economy. He is a must read daily for me.

You can find his stuff at Trader's Insight......and sign up for free access emailed to you daily........I am an Interactive customer, but I don't think you have to be to sign up . Give it a shot

If you are looking for a service that tells you what and when to buy..........I can't recommend any

Just follow what Nancy Pelosi and other Congressmen are buying; you can't go wrong. Some guy has developed an App for following their stock purchases.
Of course they get the inside scoop. How else do they make tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars from a job that doesn't pay over $175,000 a year?

Motley Fool can be useful. It is a love/hate relationship for me. Continuous up-sell attempts for other products is a real turnoff for me and they really aren't for traders but investors. Our relationship goes back decades.
