Never done it.
For some reason, Badgers have showed up big time the past year. They are really doing considerable damaged to our road systems around here.
Would need to call my CO for permission but don't wanna set foothold because of the damage they create doing that.

Anyone have success trapping them in bodygrips using cubby boxes?

Local badger 'exterminator' here. 280 Victor body grip over a fresh hole does the trick. Add a little 'Violator 7' from MTP, down the hole, and you are good to go. Stake the trap down well, in the event of a 'suitcase' catch.

PM me for a phone number. smile

50 badgers in two fur seasons, plus many more damage control catches. cool

Chas, I have a few 220s. Never been much of a body grip guy.
Have you ever tried boxes?

So many holes spred out over about 10 miles of road ( remote n private) .

I took a few in baited boxes and cages when I worked for Delta, but would not consider it a high percentage set. A box with no bottom placed over a hole was a higher percentage set as long as the badger was in the hole. Put opening of the box in the direction the badger would be traveling when he come out of the hole. Throw some dirt along the sides. I caught them in 160's and 220's over holes with no box too. The big thing doing that, is dig the hole out so when the trap fires the jaws and springs will not hit the edge of the hole and throw the trap. Fold the springs up or down tight to the sides of the jaws. Stake it like it is a foot hold.

Thanks Mark.
I could target holes but the thought of the scenario you posted about " throwing the trap " concerned me.

I’d put a 330 over the hole and be done with it. Too scary digging around the hole with your hands trying to get a trap and box set perfectly. Badgers are vicious and won’t like your hands playing patty cake on their entrance. Lol

A badger will stay in a hole a lot longer then most people think. The box over the hole gives you a good place to put the trap. I have never had a problem with a 160 or 220 when trapping badger unless you get a leg is all. I have never had a suitcase catch in them. That happens when they are in the trap too far before it fires, which is sign of too big of a trap. 160's often fit in the holes better than a 220. I often use rebar to stabilize the trap. The odds are very slim of a badger coming out while you are setting the trap. My dog would go down the hole and they would not even come out after him. You call them out of the holes at times with a rabbit in distress call. They back fill the hole at times when they are in it.
