KY and IL are in. Indiana youth is the 20th &21st. I have vacation days Friday sat and Sunday. I just got finished putting the turkey chokes in the guns and think I need to add some shims to the gun my 13 year old is going to use.

3/4" of shims are in. Made the Franci 14 to 3/8 longer than the rem 870 youth. I think he could have used the last 1/4" shim but he is used to his youth guns being short so will take some getting used to for him.

I didn't know you had zones. Just that a guy at work took vacation this week to turkey hunt IL. I will guess the south zone is in sooner and he hunts there. But that's all guessing from me. I have never hunted or taken the kids to hunt in IL

Illinois south zone, harvested on 4/8, opening day. 20lbs, 9.75" beard, 1.2" spurs.

Drew Pope County 1st season and Johnson County 1st season tags. That Tom was from Pope, I struck out on Johnson.

He was pretty tatty after getting rolled over in the wet grass on a misty morning, but he turned out alright after drying off.

Michigan first season is 4/20. Beaver trapping runs til 4/26, so I’ll be scouting for beaver and turkey this weekend so I can run a line while I’m out chasing birds. I think I say this before every season opener, but I’ve never been so excited for something

I never got excited for them. Never harvested one either. Maybe this year will be different! I’ve seen some on my game cam. Seems like they’re never around at the right time!

Why add shims? You have the perfect base turkey gun as is. I’m shooting an 870 Youth 20ga and keep putting off buying something new or nicer because I can’t find a semiauto that size. That gun is perfect for carrying and even maneuvering through brush and pivoting on a bird. Just curious why you’d add shims for turkey hunting.
