With all of the Spring Gobbler pics of late, figured I’d solicit some good recipes. I’ve got 4 leg quarters in the crock pot for turkey salad and breasts marinating in pickle juice and ranch dressing for some deep fried nuggets this evening.

What’s your go to recipe?

I’ve ate turkey breast about every way imaginable, and sliced into finger sized strips and pan fried in a skillet is absolutely my favorite.Choose your own breading. Salt and pepper to taste. Fried in bacon grease in a cast iron skillet is best.

I made some “chicken” salad out of the legs the other day that I enjoyed. Just a typical recipe with sweet pickle relish, mayo, celery, onion, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. I also like turning the legs and thighs into taco meat. We have made turkey parm out of the breasts. Pound it out, fry with Italian bread crumbs, then pour some spaghetti sauce and cheese over the top and eat over noodles. Fajitas or stir fry with the breast are good as well. I love it fried, but we don’t do a lot of frying

Chislic here is the big wild game recipe with golden dip breading and seared in hot oil pan fried or deep fried don’t over cook it just brown the breading. Trim off the fat or unwanted parts so it’s pure meat cut thumb size pieces roll in egg the fry in hot oil. Works on deer, pheasant and turkey. The breading sear keeps what little moisture in the meat in there.

We just smoked a breast at 225 for 4hrs and once internal temp got to 160 we pulled it. I swear if you didn’t know it was a turkey breast you’d swear it was pork or steak if it wasn’t white meat! Off the chain good!!

We cut the other breast in nuggets and soaked in hot sauce over night and fried them.
I’ll eat wild turkey over store bought any day of the week and twice on Sunday!

We do a lot of pulled wild turkey with the legs, especially when for wild game dinners during mentored events. I also like to make turkey pot pie with the pulled leg meat.

Southern Fried nuggets is my husbands favorite. A close second is to marinade in italian dressing or something similar for a solid 24 hours, wrap in bacon and grill. Depending on how much we have, we will also grind some up for use in tacos, burgers, nachos. I've done the pickle juice/ranch marinade.

On my list to try this year is Nashville Hot Turkey and spicy crispy chicken or hot honey turkey bites.

I wonder if a steady diet of cicada will change their flavor? Will know soon.

It’s always a surprise to see what they’ve been eating. Think my biggest surprise was 3 huge grasshoppers and 3 pecans. The surprise was the pecans. Didn’t even know we had any trees on the property and ended up finding 3!! Gave me a hog spot too!!

cube the breast into 1 inch pieces. Wrap in GOOD bacon and toothpick it. Mix up brown sugar, chili pepper, garlic black pepper. Roll the turkey in the dry mixture. Throw on grill or in oven. Oven 350 degrees.. When they get to 165 degrees pull them out and drizzle GOOD honey over them. Wash down with a GOOD beer.

Just wrapped up the deep fried nuggets marinated in the pickle / ranch. Dang good, but just hate frying anymore.

Got me about 2/3 of a gallon bag of pulled legs and thighs from the crockpot. Gonna mix up a fat bowl of turkey salad tomorrow. Shame a lot of folks through them out and just keep the breast.

Appreciate the suggestions across the board.

hipp2412 - going to have to try that one soon. Seen’t it online a few times.
