what are your most common cutting tasks ?

task typically dictates blade shape

I bought one of those CRKT knives that hang around your neck or can go on the belt at a Rodeo for about $40 and that little knife has been the best investment when out trapping/hunting/fishing. It’s cleaned 3 turkeys so far, split a few critters with ease, cut quite a bit of line, and just an all around awesome little knife. Sharp doesn’t even do it Justice. It’s like a forged razor blade.

I bought a Bark River mini-Kephart and really like it. It's small enough to wear on the belt without being in the way but takes care of most of my cutting tasks. It holds an edge well too.

I have a cheaper folder in my pocket for a lot of stuff if I don't want to beat up the BR.

I don't have one but if I was buying one it would be their Kephart , it is a very versatile blade shape.

The first and last in the picture are LT Wrights (not Bark Rivers)

I have a few, couple things to remember about Bark river knives. 1st, they are convex ground blades and availability to models is restricted to which ever model they are releasing at the moment or the second had market. I would find a style of your liking and a steel that would fit your needs.

I wish they would make another run of that blade, I'd like to have one.

This was a gift. A good skinning knife.

I have looked at the Aurora mini before , so that makes sense that shape caught my eye

I thought #7 was the mini fox river . that is the light handled one 3rd in from the right?

It's a Bravo EDC, same design as the 2nd from the left just smaller.

Thank you Grumley for looking that model up. Green County Pete, it does feel the hand nicely, and I get very long sweeps with the blade when skinning moose and bear, which is what you want when skinning large animals. I can't stand scalpel size blades and and surgical size cuts when skinning if you're not planning on saving the hide.

IMO the bobcat or the gunny are tops for deer. Bravo 1 or 1.25 LT for larger tasks. If your on FB they have a couple good pages. Or call DLT trading or Knives ship free (their 2 biggest dealers) and tell them what your looking for. They'll set you up!
