It's not that West Virginia's can't drive.... These are run of the mill WV road pictures. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/05/full-53-217665-20240511_144031.jpg) I.can see qhy our insurance premiums are so high. I personally have never hit a deer while.driving.( knock on qood) but I know people qho have hit deer multiple times while driving. I guess there's some luck involved. Have you ever hit a deer in the state you live in, or in any state for that matter.
IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

Nope! (knock on wood), but it's gonna happen when the woods grow right up to the road surface with no shoulder so you get zero warning.

I think quite a few collisions come from drivers looking at the deer that crossed instead of looking followers.
Get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

Funny you bring up insurance premiums. The better half seemed to think State Farm was the bombdigity, while I had Progressive. They were way cheaper than anyone else when I bought my truck. Incidentally, we have only been together for a bit over 10 years and we are not, officially, married and keep our finances separate. Well, we concluded, with all the policy discounts available, it made sense to be with the same company. Switched everything to State Farm and within 2 months they jacked the premiums on our 3 cars $100/mo. I wasn't paying anywhere near $100/mo for full coverage on my truck when I was the lone person on my policy. Suddenly, she had a change of heart and checked into what it would cost if all our vehicles were insured with Progressive. Well, it's $163/mo less than what State Farm wanted for identical coverage. Sorry for the diversion...

I’ve probably had 20+ collisions with deer. I know when I was working, I killed 14 with my company trucks. I was driving about 40,000 miles a year, traveling to the 20+ coal mines we were operating. I’d leave the house at 5:00 am , and deer were all over the roads. Western Pa is the roadkill capital of the country. I was driving 3/4 Chevys that rode fairly high….sometimes I’d hit a deer head on and they’d go under the truck. One morning, I hit two deer about 10 miles apart. I never had any bad damage, always could keep driving.
Since I retired eleven years ago, I’ve only hit one deer. It was on I 80, middle of the day, going 70 mph in a Subaru Forester. Luckily it caught the front fender, rather than hitting it straight on.

I've hit one in my life, here in MS. It jumped off a high bank right in front of me with no warning. Never saw it until it was 2 inches in front of my car.
I work with a girl that has hit FOUR deer on the way to work in 2 years.

Only one deer for me,but i saw a car in front of me hit a bear, that i would guess weighed 3-4 hundred lbs. She had to get towed to the nearest town. Lucky she wasn't hurt!

That's how just about every road in MS looks too except about half the trees are pines instead of just hardwoods.

Cant hardly drive fast enough on those type roads to hit a deer,
We have thousands of miles of roads like that. It's when I'm doing 60 to 70 I get nervous.
