Have not gone through that but want to wish you my best. Two hip replacements have taught me to do what the Docs and therapists tell me to do.

My best to you RxFx.
Keep a good outlook after surgery.

Had double knee replacement a few years ago. No problems.
I did therapy and extra therapy (on my own) at home. In no time... no walker, no cane, no problems.

Best of luck Lee..
No knees but both hip. I'm told knees are harder to rehab than hips. I do know plenty of people had knees done. Stay with the process and program and you will be up and running in no time.

Had bilateral, hips and bilateral knees done. You should have been doing at home exercises prior to surgery, after surgery do the PT they give you, do as much as you can between sessions also, the knee itself is fine , it's the muscles and ligaments that need stretching and strengthened.
First 2 weeks are challenging, take the good stuff before PT, and as long as you have severe pain, don't let the pain get away from you. I only took the meds a few, maybe 6 times, tylenol the rest of the time.

You'll get a walker and cane, use them. You don't want to fall cause getting up is tough. Get a toilet seat raiser, getting down and up again is tough.
Hips are easier than knees, 1 knee is easier than 2, you should be driving in 4 weeks, depending on which knee, and back to work in 6-8 weeks, again depending on what you do...

Good luck,

Lee, you're in your prayers. Hoping surgery goes well for you. I can only recommend following the directions of your therapist after surgery, but don't overdo and set your progress back.

Get a pick it up , reacher ,Great for picking up stuff you drop. Also helps when dressing. You can make an assist to put your socks on with a gaget cut from a 3 inch pvc , and a rope loop , The high rise toilet seat is good as well. I used both when I had my hip replacement. Do your exercises. old 243

Had both of my knees done. Ice, Ice, Ice, is your friend. Do PT as instructed, doing more can set you back. The first couple weeks can be rough but it is worth it. Unreal the pain I got used to before they were done. Good luck!

I had my right knee replacement 2 years ago, I did everything I was supposed to do and then some. It didn't turn out to good. I got a second opinion on it and seems my knee cap is setting Cocked cockeyed. My wife has had both of hers replaced and within a few months she was going great she had a different doctor than I went to.
Best of luck to you

Had my right one done February 12.

That was a Monday. by Thursday I basically had no pain. Ice is the best medicine you can get. in 2 weeks i was on a cane.
Do what therapy tells you and you will be fine.

one warning stay away from the pain pills as much as you can. they stop you up like you been eating concrete.

Had both hips ...at the same time my bro-in law had his knee done....knee was a bit slower to rehab but after doing his PT exercises he bounced back. TAKE THE MEDS! some folks don't like taking the meds they will help you recover so you can do the rehab and sleep.
Good luck
