Posted 5 or 6 weeks ago about having a 13mm kidney stone. First of any real health issues in 49 years.

3rd procedure wrapped up today. Started out under anesthesia to have a stent put in to keep the stone from blocking my left kidney from draining into my bladder when I first went to the ER.

Had lithotripsy with sound waves under anesthesia to break up the stone so I could physically pass some of it 3 weeks ago.

Had laser lithotripsy this AM to blast the 2 remaining stones over 7mm. One more lights out trip (fingers crossed) to remove the stent in a few weeks.

Kinda feel like I’ve caught up on sleep in the past month.

I’ve changed some horrible habits over the last few weeks. Went from 1-2 Mt Dews everyday with water as an afterthought to 1 a week. Thinking I’ve finally gotten used to drinking +100 oz of water daily now as well.

If you’ve never had an issue, I would offer that you take a good look at how you’re rolling and decide if there’s anything you can do for a positive impact for your health. I woulda laughed and shrugged off anyone telling me about too many sodas 2 months ago. I did with my wife for years. I mean I KNEW too much was bad, but always thought it ain’t gonna catch up to me.

I’ve had constantly sore knees for 5-6 years from playing sports for so long in school and the coaching of all 3 of my boys, as well as pretty bad acid reflux in the evenings. Since cutting back on sodas, I hadn’t taken an antacid or had much knee pain and dropped almost 12 lbs.

Appreciate the feedback in the post weeks back and I have taken the advice and researched the suggestions.

I like to get one just to say I did. Same goes for being involved in a gun or knife fight.

Glad to hear your getting through it ,it will be fine .Soda pops are just man made poison. just remember caffeine dehydrates, while your quenching your thirst with pops, stones are growing.

My stent removal there was no sedation or anything. Just grab the string, hold on to something and they yank it out. At least that how it was in my situation. I still have my stent from many years ago. Did I mention the burning sensation for days later.

Bob, I’ll say it publicly. You’re a way tougher dude than me.

I had options, I went with sedation!

They don't use a string around here anymore. They use a machine to go in and get it. No sedation, lots of fun.

Gunnleg, hope things improve soon. I was told by an ER doctor about 35 years ago that I had one. About 9mm in size. Sent me to a urologist.

Urologist found nothing and said I must have passed it. Seriously? I told him I was honored if he thought my plumbing could pass a 9mm stone and not be noticed but somebody, somewhere doesn't know what they're doing. No problems since.

ergo, bibamus.

Appreciate you Old pup. Urologist claims you can’t pass anything over 6mm in diameter. Physically ain’t supposed to be possible.

I’ve got a follow up scan in 2 weeks and then hopeful to have the stent removed. Under anesthesia… not by a pull string or any other contraption. shocked

Yep. The string wasn't bad, just weird feeling. The apparatus has been awful, up until the last one. Doc got a new machine. It still sucked, but not as bad as before. Pro tip: take a pain pill about 1hr before the procedure. It helps some.

No, you don't. If you ever do have one, you will realize how stupid that statement is.

Some folks say silly things. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Seems as if the laser tag in my guts was a success. If anyone needs their driveway topped off, I been pushing stalagmites out right consistently over the last 2 days.

It was funny. Especially combined with ‘involved in a knife or gun fight’.

Silly even, as stated.

Still though… hope you don’t get one. Or involved in a knife or gun fight.
