Wife broke her Rock and want one that plugs into the wall
I Figured MOST of you Lost your man card,,,,,,,,,, So you would know about these things.......
Top load? Front load? Or new wife?
Brand?
The cool Industrial looking ones,,,,,,, I like came to about a wash on the divorce.........

Old Kenmore dryer quit drying a week or so back. As suspected, heating element burnt out. Repair guy said to keep it going for as long as you can, as compared to that old set, new stuff is crapola. If forced to buy new, what to get? He said Speed Queen. They still favor quality and durability over frivilous features.
Second part.....when they built this house, they placed laundry area in interior hallway. Dryer vent goes straight up to a vent at peak of the roof. At least a 20 foot run and top part in unheated attic. Over the years, that vent had clogged up nearly full of dryer lint. Had a guy come out to snake it out........think go up on the roof with brushes like a chimney sweep. Air flow more than doubled. Clothes now drying in half the time. If your dryer does not vent straight out thru an exterior wall, may pay you to do the same.

Ours has condensation that freezes from outdoor air then it plugs with lint.

Hard to beat a Speed Queen. 160????? open for you,,,,,,,I dont need a vacation... But,,,,,,I have not heard that name in years,,,,,,,,reminded me of my Grandma Hilda. The day she got out of things in the ringer,,,,,and into a new speed Queen. We probably got electricity about the same time........

I don’t like the newer washers. They don’t fill up with hardly any water. They take an hour to run a cycle . And they have to sing a song every time they are finished. We have Samsung at work and they’re stupid and annoying.
If something happens to mine at home , I’m going to a scratch n dent refurbishing place . They often have older models. We got a gas dryer there for a good price

Speed Queen Commercial ...
Top load has less maintenance, but you have to almost climb into the high capacity units to get to the bottom of the tub. Look for higher spin speeds to reduce drying times.
Front load, if less than flexible (read getting older), easy loading/unloading. Typically has faster spin cycle for dryer clothes coming out of the wash.
All in one washer and dryer - new, takes up less space; but way to long of cycle times (up to 4+ hours) so not productive if doing any volume of laundry.
Digital are more prone to electrical related failures which are expensive to repair and have a shorter parts service life. Analog switches if you can find them on any of today's models are the way to go imho.

Have had my Samsung set for 7 years and they still keep on going. Everyone hates on them but as long as you take care of them I haven’t had many issues. I did have a sensor that was causing error codes where the solder broke off and I just resoldered it and was good to go. Had a bearing go out in the washer after 6 years and went to John Deere and grabbed a new bearing and good to go

Get your wife a fancy new one and she will have more time to mow the lawn. They got wifi and A I,,,,, told her,,,,,,,I can do laundry from a bar stool and she would have more "House time".......(didn't go over well)
