Been picking away at this for a month.
Have wanted to do this for a few years but I actually kinda dispise bowhunting out of a blind.
Last bow season, it was snowy/ rainy/ windy during the magic 15 day period.
Kept me from hunting from treestands a few days.
This blind will be great for days like that.
It's 17 yards from the main trail bucks use to travel between 2 major bedding area.
On the edge of a small cover field tucked back alone the river.
Needs shingles and a smudge/ smoke test to see if there are any air leaks.

My favorite bow stand is in an oak tree 5 yards away.

I have never sat in a tree or a blind like that. I sat on the edge of plenty of sloughs. I have thought about putting one up across the road like that one.. I don't know if I could sit in it if I could not see at least a quarter mile. How big is that one?

6x6 would be big enough for a nap. I could stretch out on the floor come back and say I didn't see a thing. 6x6 might be the way to go with all the grand kids. But there goes the nap with them along.

Nope. Lot of lower teens. Froze out one time. Raining that morning and sleeting and 18 by 3 pm. Tagged out still hunting back to truck. Invested years ago in clothes that help in our temps. Used to fish for crappie in dead of winter.

Put your time in and know how to hunt and you don’t have to sit for days on end !!!
Lol lol lol

I spent 7 to 10 days in Alberta, Canada for 10 years straight
hunting whitetail deer and never sat in a box blind or shelter
of any kind, just the clothes on my back.

I can shoot all the deer I want, I like to sit, be in the woods and take it all in. The kids generally shoot enough deer for us to eat Teens? Really? I don't know how you survived.

Walleyed, I stayed away from a box blind for years but as you know as we get older it's not as easy to keep warm. Do you think with your health issues you can stay warm on a 10 hour sit?

Walleyed, we're you bowhunting?
I've spent 45 years hanging in trees. Still love it and crave it. But, I've shot a couple deer doing it and my old bones just don't like the cold/ wind/ moisture anymore.

I hope I never even have to sit in it. wink. Iffn I was 1/2 the hunter Byrd is, I tag out first sit of the year..., but I ain't.
Hey Mark, " Show Me the Money". wink
I could come up, build one for you and we could drink a few more of you homebrews in the evening?
Scratch that last part. A case of Schmitties will suffice. grin

I have 9 enclosed and heated stands like that all with carpeting, padded swivel chairs, propane furnaces and my last one even has a urinal. My question to the nay sayers is "Why WOULDN'T you hunt from a dry, warm place"? It's my land, I pay a buttload of taxes on it and I want to deer hunt in light boots and a flannel shirt at -10 below.

I have nothing clever to put here.

No,

Of course not.

Be lucky if I can sit an hour now,
regardless of good or bad weather !!!
