I received an email to take a trapping survey from the AFWA. Is this legit?
They said I may have received an email about same from the ODNR or seen info about the survey in the Fur Takers of America newsletter. I have not.
Thanks

I'd say it's legit. There have been several trappers around here that have gotten the survey too.

Here in MN, I buy a trapping license every year. I get a survey every year. If I didn't trap, I don't fill it out.

What's the purpose of it? To figure out why their initiative to increase predators to reduce available game to hunters isn’t working and whether or not they need to increase regulations and federal jobs.

It's bad enough that most wildlife agencies don't consider trappers/trapping now.
Trappers not participating or being counted......Yeah.....that'll work out great in your state.

Federal & State wildlife agencies have already decided what they are going to do to further regulate or eliminate trapping as a management tool.
They just need to go through the motions of surveying all the "STAKE HOLDERS" so they can say they considered everyone's input before they act.
Fish & Wildlife Agencies at the state and federal levels have all been infiltrated by the Animal rights activists for decades and even now are in the process of eliminating trapping, hunting, fishing, and all other consumptive use activities.
Beware the surveys.

Yeah....just give up. Or, just look for the negatives.
Most of us are old timers anyway. Won't matter....just let it happen.

Hahahahaha… that’s hilarious. I’ll be sure to let my local furbearer biologist who is an avid trapper and the other folks that work for the wildlife section that work to increase trapping and hunting opportunities that they are all secretly animal rights activists. They will get a chuckle. The guy who runs Delaware sent out a letter trying to get a gauge on how many people are taking new folks out or mentoring new trappers. He is working with hunter education to provide more classes to educate new trappers. And he is trying to increase the number of trappers by creating more opportunities to trap public ground, and educate the public on the benefits of trapping and hunting. This is obviously a ruse and they are so secret about it, they don’t even know they are helping trappers. Sounds like a bunch of morons to me. Hahahaha

Walleyed has it 100 per xent correct. These agencies already know what they are going to do.Walleyed's second paragraph tells it all/ DON"T ANSWER THEIR CROOKED SURVEYS ! Haha. Hunters are about 4% of the population. Trappers are about 10% of that 4 percent. In the grand scheme, the wildlife agencies are trying to stop the legislators and special interest groups from removing trapping and hunting as a tool. Stop fighting the people who are trying to help. What have you done to increase trapping and hunting opportunities? Or are you one of the folks that just like to complain and only worry about the area you trap? Get a grip. And Walleyed is not 100% correct. There are people out there in state agencies that are against hunting and trapping, sure. But it isn’t anywhere near all of them. Or even a small amount of them. Anyway, just like the anti people y’all love to hate. It won’t change your opinion. So, have a great day. Hope y’all get out and do some fishing or something. Too much internet isn’t good for you.

DelRob, It's much easier to be negative or criticize for many people. Yes. And as my grandfather and many people say. It’s like rolling in the mud with pigs. You both get dirty and you eventually realize the pig likes it.
