Short snare and a kill stick. Once they go around the kill stick, they go down quickly-very humane.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I’m thinking of weight reduction. 1500 miles this fall until I start hanging them. The eight foot extensions can be used for both traps and snares.

They'll work fine . The main problem I have with snared cats are a certain % eaten . It'd heart breaking to go to the work of catching a 3 to 4 hundred dollar cat and feed it to the eagles.

Just make some 8' snares they work very well on both bobcats and coyotes . Extensions can be helpful I use a fair amount of doubled up wire as well . Snare supports can make or break some set locations.
You're friend along the snare line . Allan

Live cats tangled halfway up and tree saying "good morning" is what keeps it so interesting!
When it comes to snares, there are some tricks that help save your gear if you snag a fiesty one or a much larger hog. Extensions gives them an even bigger run at getting free. Tying off to a green limb with some flex works so well I wanted to try to replicate that set up out in open ground. I ended up testing all kinds of shock springs but none of them had any more that a couple of inchers to give. Wolf springs better but only another inch or 2 of travel. I ended up with a big box of basically obsolete garage door springs.
FYI I rig all the Conner and MB springs get rigged online but I loop all the OH door parts.
