Anyone have a method of keeping popple bait fresh?

Not a lot of it where I live. Would be nice to collect in summer for later use.

Dont know about freezing it but I might consider sinking it in water just like the beaver does.

You would be too late to collect buds and make lure. You would want the before they open into leaves. You could also collect sap about the same time. If you had good lure you could use about any thing, fresh or not.

If it doesnt grow where you trap what use is it to you?
Just use what is natural to the beaver in their specific environment.
They will respond best to what they use.

You might be able to grind up smaller popple limbs in a tree grinder, put it in plastic containers and just stack it in the deep freeze. The smell should still attract the beaver.
