Well, it's a new era for my Zim. He is an inch from retirement (translation:reduction of hours worked) and looking at new and wonderful stuff he is adding to his repertoire. He is now a strawberry rancher. This is our first harvest with loads more to come.

He has also started mushroom ranching this year and is running 750 head of oysters. laugh

All good things!

My chickens and guineas LOVE strawberries. Mine are in blossom and will continue to produce until they have snow on them.

I have nothing clever to put here.

What do you figure, the middle or end of July before the snow hits? My wife's are in blossom too.

I feel stuffed just looking at it

but maybe that is my berry picking process

2 for me 1 for the basket

2 for me 1 for the basket

ohh that one looks too ripe for the basket I am going to have to enjoy that one here before it gets soft.

I may have issues

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Mine are a week or so behind and we got some small but lots of hail for about 20 minutes last week. I have been checking but it does not seem to have bruised the starting berries or buds, but the leaves got shredded pretty good. I have Jewel and Honeyoe.

The berries are Jewel that I got from Jung's Seeds. I only have a 50 foot row, planted them last year.
I have never grown strawberries before so kind of a learn as I go operation.
Our chickens like them and unfortunately so does the local flock of catbirds. Have netting over the
row to keep most of them out.
Patrice just whamped up a batch of freezer jam. I see shortcake on the horizon.

Beautiful!!!
So, are in the ranching business too sell your stock or is for your own use. That would be a great retirement venture. When people retire, they need to retire too something, just not retire. Good for Zim in his new job retirement.
