I've just received approval to join the forum (thanks Paul), I'm in north east Michigan (Iosco county) and have the Huron national forest a mile and a half from my house available to wander through. I haven't trapped since the 80s so a 40 year hiatus and wasn't really that well acquainted with all the ins and out of successful trapping, I'm really enjoying all the info available on the webb (you tube especially) and gleaning from the experience of seasoned trappers here on trapperman. Recently retired, I'm getting the bug after having to control critters in my garden and bird feeders, a couple of DP's and I'm hooked again. season here in Mi starts Oct 1 and I,m already getting my gear out of the shed and cleaning things up getting ready (bow season for deer starts the same day so I'm excited about that too). So just want to say thanks for all that is shared on the board and to wish all happy days ahead.
been 40 years since I was an active trapper so I have a lot of catching up to do

Welcome michiganjackpine. Make plans to attend the MTPCA annual convention, Aug. 16-17, at the Osceola County Fairgrounds in Evart. Great family/kid friendly event. Lots of supply dealers and demos. You can also meet the Boss, Paul Dobbins there.

Glad to have you join us on here, the you tube videos have changed how a person learns to trap, lot easier than 40 years ago. I will say I remember some big name trappers doing demos at conventions 40 years ago.

yup- back then it was Harding books, fur fish and game, but my favorite was Tom Maranda I don't know if I spelled any of those correctly but I think you already knew them.
