My numbers change daily. I have over 65 beaver 18 otter 150 plus muskrat and over 350 mink up there. Hopefully a good sale.

Like they’re adding to your count? All my fur numbers were the same as my receipt right off the bat. Just the coons weren’t graded, but are now

Ack,

I know from what you told me that you have been freezing and holding your mink now for several years. I am guessing that you are selling the ones that have been in the freezer for many years. Could you see a difference between how they looked and how fresh ones look? Did the ones in the freezer for say 6 years look any different from the ones that were in the freezer for say 3 years?

And more importantly how have they been graded? Are you seeing just as many selects as you would usually get or do they seem to be grading them harder? Easier?

When I pulled them they looked like the day I put them in. Although I haven't counted I would say it looks like a normal to maybe slightly better grade.

That is good to hear Ack. MAYBE prices are edging up a bit? Hopefully our world will straighten out so trappers fur will once again be desired...more.

Years ago NAFA tried online bidding. It was a flop. This method appears to be unproductive in the skin game.

Wallfur - what format do you think FH should use? You seem to know about this type of live auction. Please tell us how it would work.

live feed video in auction room with a online screen feed where the auctioneer can take online bid. buyers have already previewed catalog videos photos and description of lots and can bid on lots just like the buyers are doing in the room in real time

Wouldn’t that require all on line bidders to have high speed internet access? Seems like some one on dial up - yes that still exists - would be at a disadvantage. I’m not a tech expert so I’m not sure how the technology works.

Seems like string lots would be a mess, since each lot is not sold individually. String lots in the room can be confusing.

yes thats true high speed needed but if you want to buy you will find good internet connection ...string lots are printed in catalog as such and online bidder can tell the auctioneer how many strings he wants dont need to be in the room to do that. the online cattle auctions will sell several strings of cattle to one buyer in a matter of seconds. i guess it boils down to if there is a will there will be a way to make things better . you gain nothing by missed opportunities!

Maybe with the main market today being trinkets and tourist trade fur, it would help move some fur if they made it so those smaller buyers could get involved. The state trapper auctions that cater to those people do as well or better than FHA does.
